What is Impact swim trainig?
The dictionary definition of impact is have a strong effect on someone or something
In other words, Impact is a new concept in swim training that has moved away from the established program format, to produce improved swimming results and faster times in swimmers
Why is Impact Training Such a Big Deal?
The biggest factor that makes impact Training such a subject of intrigue for many, is the secrecy that surrounds the unique but extremely effective practice methodology.
Anyone with competitive swimming experience,or not for that matter should be able understand why our unique conditioning system for racing needs to be kept in it's original form and not watered down by anyone not associated with the owners and coaches of Impact Training Systems; however, many club coaches and officials construe this secrecy to mean that there is something strange and underhand going on. Strange yes, unconventional yes, but definitely not underhand.
We use evidence based protocols and the application of correct practice procedures to enable our swimmers to rapidly improve, not the usuall emperial focused traditional programs that are found in so many clubs, world wide.
However, what sparks much intrigue for many is the fact that these improvements are quite rapid and in a short time frame ~ a 30 day time frame is the normal improvement period but swimmers have recorded performance improvements in has little as 14 days via the very unconventional distances and rest periods utilized in the impact system.
The impact Training Program is focused on teaching you how to race fast and with commitment.
In competitive swimming today, the majority of club programs are heavily weighted towards traditional conditioning programs, as per the paradigm promited by that country's swim coaching award body.
The Impact program cuts right to the heart of improving your racing performance in less time than conventional training methods used by 99.9 % of clubs.
As a swimmer, you need to be taught how to race NOT how to train.... This is sadly missing from 99% of club programs that are running now.
The mission of the impact program is to provide a unique development and progressive system of swim practice and training that equips the swimmer with the ability to race fast and race tough
who otherwise, would be completely lost to swimming through various reasons not of their own making or who are on the verge of quitting this great sport of ours through...
● Their performance times not progressing and often regressing despite attending all the required sessions.
● Lack of motivation from their coach
● Their actual swim technique has not been looked at on an individual basis for ages
● They are in what I refer to as a Darwinian Program ~ The survival of the few
● They feel they are just making up the numbers
Our program will equip you with all the physical, mental and character-building tools necessary to achieve or extend a life of wellness, health and sporting excellence., via a proven and unique program of in-water and land based practice.
As stated, it is very unfortunate that many promising swimmers actually leave the sport on negative terms and have been soured by their experience.
Sometimes they eventually find their way to what is known ‘Masters’ and are lost by this distinction between ‘competitive' and ‘Masters’ to the world of performance orientated swimming.
The philosophy that governs the Program involves incorporating faster than race rate work every day. Swimming at faster than race rates consistently will build the neuromuscular and metabolic adaptations that are required for faster swimming and constant progression in both technique and actual race conditionng.
We build your race stroke individually around the principle of swimming TUF which stands for Technique Under Fatigue.
Train Your Body, Train Your Mind
One note on getting through the impact program is that at first the program might seem easy, but as the rounds go by the brutality and the pain of this workout will become rapidly apparent.
For example, the speed at which you are swimming will begin to slow very significantly and your brain will scream at you to give up. Don’t do it.
Even if you are barely moving, continue pushing with all you have and just concentrate on breathing, because at this point you have reached the essence of the Impact workout. This is part of what makes this particular form of training essential to all swimmers
...sprinters in particular, we call this
"Training To Race"
